I've spent nearly an hour searching the forums and can't find the answers for my needs.

DX has a SSC P7 C-bin module electronically regulated at 2.8A. It looks like it will fit in a mag or similar light so I bought a similar light that holds 3D's. I am going to run it on 6 AA's, 2 in each D cell converter running parallel. Would 2000mah eneloops be ok (being 4000mah per cell) or should I go for something higher? And what runtime could one expect? I already have the batteries and charger and really don't want to change that unless I have to. It all costs money.

Also I have permission from the missus to get ONE more light for my birthday. Apparently 12 lights is enough.
Here's the list: Malkoff 4D drop in, TK-40, iTP A6 polestar, TLE-300EX drop in. I'm after something that will give my unenlightened friends a wow factor. And really, anything over 200 lumens usually does that. And obviously from the list needs to run on AA's or D's. Any other suggestions are welcome.

My suggestion is to get the Fenix TK40. Once I got mine, absolutely no other flashlight on the market today, especially LED, comes remotely close to meeting my needs. Thus, I have had no urge to buy another one since I got my TK40.

Trust me, the TK40 *will* blow your friends away. If that is your choice, make sure to demonstrate it to them starting in low mode and then work your way up to turbo. Each time you click on the tailcap switch to bump up the light output, they'll go wild! :D

I would suggest the TK30 instead, basically the same as the TK40, but can use 2 or 4 CR123 or 1 or 2 18650 rechargeable batteries.

Get a few sets of protected 18650's, and a good charger and you're set.

Reason being that with the TK40, you have 8 batteries, or 8 points to go wrong. With the TK30, you have at most 4, or 2 if using 18650's, and as long as you monitor your 18650's, and check their voltage to be used in matched pairs, you have much less chance of going wrong.

My $0.02... But, remember, the Dollar is weak, so my opinion is worth even less... LOL
