A friend who's been doing me a lot of favors over the past few months is about to get a thank you gift.
A Fenix LD10 and a Costco Eneloop pack to power it (and whatever else)

He keeps insisting he has no need for 'New Tech' stuff, but he's been admiring my new lights recently, so we'll see if he changes his tune when we do a little un-boxing and first few clicks.

I'm not expecting a 'No Thanks' from an avid fisherman, camper. Think he'll give em' Back?

;)

I've not heard of any gifts being given back. Let alone a fisherman/camper given a light. (Besides, it's rude :twak:) I bet he'll be excited to try it out on his next outdoor trip. And at the right moment, you could whip out a M6...

naah. i dont think he will refuse getting them..

but might be temped to leave it home as its "just too nice to use out in the rough" :)

just make sure you show him how to use it thoroughly all the niceties in it.

and then tell him to USE it like its a freebie (which it actually is) also dont tell him the price until you have seen/heard him using it and there are dings and scratches on it.

I'm not a fisherman. If he drops it in the Chattahoochee I'll miss all the fun of watching him agonize over whether or not to go in after it ;)

There's no M6 around here, darn it

OK

So much for not liking new tech. There were a few WOWs and after explaining the run times, a Holy Sht or 2 followed by 'This Is Too Cool'

I handed him a 3D Mag with fresh bats for an A/B and he vanished into my dark shop for a minute and returned with a smile. I never use the lanyard, but he had his on right away. I think he has an excursion coming up in a few days, so the case was under heavy inspection for the travel rig.

Something tells me he'll be cruising his back yard tonight when he gets home.

;)

Yes, I think so. There was a call later in the evening from somewhere outside with discussion on trees way across something and a neighbor wanting to know where to get one.

NICE! The neighbor whose yard butts up against mine came out back the other night because out dogs were barking at each other. I have 6P w/Malkoff M60 out that night he said "Hey Josh, got one of the big lights out tonight?" When I showed him the light, his jaw hung open. I had a spare one with a lesser drop-in in my nightstand, which he is now the proud newly corrupted neighbor!

RESISTENCE IS FUTILE!

For those of you who've bought lights as gifts for others, did you let them "test drive" several of your lights first so that they (and you) could determine what they like? With so many different features and people's different preferences, I'd be hesitant to buy a gift light without knowing what the person likes.

I'm thinking about buying a light for a birthday present, and maybe letting the person do the "test drive" thing first (if I can figure out a way to arrange it!). 'Course, that kind of spoils the birthday surprise, but I guess it'd be worth it.

Maybe I'll get a separate gift as a distraction (that appears to be the "main" gift), then give the light in kind of an "oh by the way" deal.

I demo'd my Solarforce L2 with R2 5-mode drop-in for my father-in-law and he was really impressed with it.

I know he'd love to have one, but CR123A cells are costly (unless I buy them for him) and there is no way I am setting him up with Li-Ion cells and a charger...that's a disaster waiting to happen.

Judgment call on my part, but it's kinda hard to screw up when you're gifting one of these new lights to someone who doesn't own one. Agree?
