Does anybody know the voltage supplied to the lamp? I was going to try outfitting my A2 with a MN02 LA and use it like a X-LOLA like the M6 guys do with the MN15 LA.

Do you think it will work?

I shall try this weekend...

I don't really know either, but I think most A2 threads that I've read have said it's about 4V. Fivemega sells an adapter for the A2 that uses Strion bulbs, which I believe are designed for 3.6V, and they are supposed to be overdriven in the A2, so ca. 4V sounds about right. It may also be a little more than 4V.

Anyway, consider this a bump, maybe some A2 guru will soon tell us the right answer. And I would actually also be interested in an A2 lamp assembly with a bit less power, as sometimes I'd like to get some more runtime out of it.

Have a look at this thread

This mod which couldn't be simpler (if you buy the part) is fantastic. it lets you install a string globe this is a 4 volt lamp which emits 90 lumen. It is whiter than the stock a2 assemble and the replacements cost $4.oo
My A2's output is almost double with this lamp as measured on my meterman631. at around 3500 lux at 1 meter. a good stock a2 emits 2500 lux at 1 meter. (mine is weak and only puts out 1800 Lux at a meter.
My A2 has always been an under performer.
Now that I have a string globe in there it ROCKS.
Try it.

Just checking, you mean stinger/strion bulb, don't you?

I thought the original question was to get longer runtime out of a MN02 rather than a brighter option for the A2. This thread has a derailed a bit.

I'm pretty sure the circuitry in the A2 itself will determine runtime, not what bulb is used since it's a regulated incan.

Good point!

But do we know if it is voltage and current regulated, or just voltage?

I tried installing an MN02 in my A2 and it would fit.

So much for my "bright" ideas...
