im looking for a flashlight that can use a triple or double A size battery AND can charge those batteries by plugging in the flashlight.
that way you can charge it if it dies (like a L-ion) or if you need to just pop in an alkaline batter. not sure if it exists i did a lot of searching already

Lumintop E05C, Skilhunt M150 & Jetbeam e10r.
I think the general concern of manufacturers is that someone will plug the light in to charge while having a alkaline AA/AAA installed. No problem at all with some basic intelligent charging circuitry but I suppose most cant be bothered. There are quite a few that will take both 14500 & AA but most dont feature on board charging, but a usb rechargeable 14500 cell instead.

The lumintop tool aa 2.0 would be a great option. You can use a 14500 with a USB port on the battery you can plug in, and you can also use any aa if you need to.

If I remember correctly the lumintop branded 14500 that you can buy with the light as an option comes with a usb port.

Thats interesting, opens up a lot of options

Jetbeam eo1r for aaa and e10r for AA battery.
They have side switches and I believe the e10r has a magnetic tailcap.

Thrunite has the new mini archer. 10440 with a USB c charger in the light. On sale on Amazon for $20. 400+ lumens.

A butterfly dies everytime the Merican Made Peak Eiger is not recommended when one is searching for AAA.
Their AA is just as great, the Peak El Capitan

You can buy 1 Peak and be done, or buy a bunch of imports.

this is a link to a 10440 with a micro usb in it. i didnt know they had these could have really used this back when i had and 18650 vape using an external charger was such a pain. i never seemed to have it when needed

i have an olight baton 3 which is impressively bright and a rugged little light, but with the custom 16340 cell and a proprietary magnetic charger im SOL if it dies while out and about. plus i think its a little bulky clipped in the watch pocket next to my sog power pint

Just came across this interesting option. Rechargeable (USB-C) pocket light with both built-in internal rechargeable and a compartment for spare/backup AAA/10440.

RovyVon Angel Eyes E3.

Now this is an AAA light. Two head sizes.

14500 ~ Klarus XT1A

Have had this light for quite a long while, and I do recommend it. Dual tailcap switch doesn't take long to get used to. Only thing is, you can recharge the 14500 Klarus battery directly, but will have to unscrew the head to do so. Otherwise, technically you'll be able to recharge it while it's still sitting inside the flashlight.

Disadvantage: The 14500 battery is proprietary.
