Hi all, new to the forums with some questions.
I have made the decision to carry an AAP3W as an EDC on my duty belt. This is going to replace my streamlight scorpion because the batteries were getting to be to much of a maint issue.
I figure with NIMH c cells(What are the good ones? Where to get them? What are the specs?) and the LED Bulb I can get a good 3+ hours of comparable brightness out of the AAP3w rather than an hour with the Scorpion. Plus in an emergency C cell alkaline's can be used as a cheap backup.
The case fits snugly over my duty belt without any modification, another plus.
I do have a question about mods though. I understand there is an upgrade that can take this already bright light into the range of 150Lumens with a 15 min desoldering/soldering job.
If done, how much would it decrease runtime, and how much durability/dependability am I loosing if any? Ive seen the link to the part needed but am unsure how to complete the job. Anyone have a picture tutorial they might help a guy out with?
