Hi guys,

I've seen some good feedback and reviews about the UltraFire WF-606A and ROMISEN RC-P3 but the posts are from 2008, so I would like to know if they are still god options at the moment for a 2xAA torch. I've considered as well the SmallSun ZY-C61 as I've heard they are good and cheap, but I don't have experience with LED torch and I'm in doubt with one is the best. The torch needs to be 2xAA, and I'm not willing to pay a lot as it is a gift. The Romisen is on ebay for £10 delivered, but it looks slightly weaker than the Ultrafire, which is slightly more expensive.

By the way, is dealextreme.com reliable to ship to UK? Any advice or suggestions about other models is much appreciated =)

Regards,

Alex

The Romisen is a good choice. I don't recommend the Ultrafire 606a unless you're willing to work on it before you gift it. If you overtighten the head on accident the reflector will short across the top of the leds, it simply shreds the little mylar insulator. I also don't recommend gifting any generic Chinese light unless I work on it and test it myself for reliability, they're notorious for either malfunctioning soon after receiving them or arrive not working at all. They all usually need disassembling and proper reassembly and for gift lights loc-tite on all areas you don't need to access.

Another really good choice is the Solarforce L2R 2AA with a low voltage drop in. It's easy to disassemble and upgrade the p60 module and parts are replaceable easily. Solarforce is pretty well respected here when it comes to quality.

Usually yes - they aren't the fastest in the world but stuff gets here.

But just now Hong Kong Post seems to be having issues. Stuff that would normally have shipped out ages ago is sitting in the HK Post system. I have more than one item that has now been in the system for over a fortnight.

I would not guarantee that this will change soon so I'd not recommend any Hong Kong dealer for stuff you want to arrive in the next month or so. Unless you want to spend a LOT on some other sort of shipping.

Thanks for the advice on this. I didn't know about this tweaking for proper use on the Ultrafire model, I thought that it was better constructed. The Solarforce is a new brand for me, but I can see from the pictures that it is very nice designed, looks high quality, but I couldn't find the 2AA version to sell for less than £25, so at the moment I believe I'll stick with the Romisen, and perhaps next month I'll take one Solarforce for me. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks for the heads up on this. I'll try to find an UK supplier then.

I think the Romisen RC-N3 should be considered too. For a bit more you can get a Fenix E21 ;) (about £25 in 4sevens before discount)

Thanks for the heads up on why shipping is so slow from Hong Kong.

I was wondering why my order was sitting around for a week before being updated! It has finally been shipped, but now I am worried about another order that I placed a few days ago for a Solarforce Master pro 1 head. I am hoping it will arrive before bonfire night! But hmm.. not sure now.

I recommend the Solarforce L2R 2AA with the 3 mode XRE-R2 drop-in.. but you may find it difficult sourcing one that is in the UK.
