Advice on lithium-powered green pointer

Candle Power Forums

Help Support Candle Power:

Not available in Germany yet. And they are 1.7V for a total of about 3.4V as opposed to the 3V of the alkalines ... I do not know if this would hurt my precious laser.

So, i think that kinda makes bigha full of /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/knight.gif

I hate to butt in on a conversation here, but I'd be shocked if the Z-Bolt laser is the same as ours. We work with Leadlight very closely not only on the purchasing of our Jaspers but also in the design and production.

We wanted something run on a lithium battery because they last longer and work in colder weather. Leadlight already had the housing designed, so we went with it. This is why it looks the same as the ones you can find on other sites.

The actual laser is a bit different though, in that it can be run for hours without requiring any sort of "cool down." This is something that's important to us, as we don't think our customers want to have to shut down their lasers every minute or so. Leadlight had been working on a similar version of this laser and had sold some in small quantities, but we bought several thousand in June and Leadlight stopped selling it to others. Needless to say, the housing is still available for anyone.

Also, we only purhcase lasers 4.0mW or better. We're a higher end brand and we only sell what we consider to be the best products. We would never retail something that is sold elsewhere without our own little twist or improvement to it.

Bernhard, if you want a lithium IIIa with both a momentary and constant on/off switch, our upcoming model might interest you. It's a newer version of our APC laser. We've designed a circuit that will allow dual function. Press and hold, and it's a momentary switch. Double click and it's a constant on until you push again. Another PC board we designed allows precise tuning of each laser. Right now Leadlight has a guy tune each laser by hand and it takes about a minute per. This is why there is such a wide degree of variance in the power output of their lasers. We've designed a machine that will connect to four lasers at a time and tune them to 4.75mW-4.99mW in about 30 seconds. These designs are both patent pending. The body style will be a lot different too, so you won't confuse it with other models.

We've been through a few protos and are going to Taiwan next week to finalize. We hope to have it available in March. We may put up a pre-order offer on our site in the near future.

Hello Noah ... welcome to CPF and stay a while ! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanx for chiming in, I take it you are from bigha selling the Jasper laser?

Any idea about when the Jasper-Always in black will be available again? I am interested ... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

And this new one you are talking about ... any pics or more details? Size? Output 5mW as any higher won't be usable for me ...

thanx!

No problem noah. we were just trying to get to the bottom of of the whole boggle. That and trying to find the best bang for our buck.

Bernhard, I'll probably post something to our site in the next few weeks regarding the new laser. Both the Now and Always in black have are pretty backlogged. It could take a 2-3 weeks before it ships.
I don't want to come acrossed as pushing my own product on the site. I've been following for a while, ever since I noticed this site linking to ours, and had to butt in to make the correction. I think every retailer has a quality product to fill their own little niche. Best of luck to everyone!

There was no butting noah! this is a forum, all input is welcome, & I'd rather have the right info! Welcome to CPF! Sounds like you can bring alot of info to to our forum /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Have you been to craigs (he's one of the moderators on the laser forum here) page? www.ledmuseum.org I think it would most benefitial for your company to submit a jasper for him to review. He has reviewed many flashlights and the laser section is only getting bigger! He really does a thorough review, which are valued by all CPF members.

noah ... I really thank you for the clarification as it is the deciding factor for my buying decision. 2-3 weeks is a piece of cake /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

You have every right to talk about your product here as DaFiend has already pointed out, and we value good info. It is especially appreciated if it is accurate without a hype and unfair attacks on other manufacturers, so your posts are perfectly fine here.
Our goal is the truth and a maximum of info.

Please stay a while here, and you might want to have a look at the Dealer's Forum and banner ads after reading the CPF policies ... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Advice on lithium-powered green pointer READ!!

QUESTION POSED BY ME AND RESPONSE BY Z-BOLT REGARDING THEIR WHICH LOOKS VERY SIMILAR TO BIGHA'S JASPER:

Dear z-bolt.com,

Hi I am interested in this laser. Do you guarantee that this laser can be left on without worry of overheating for an hour at a time? If so then I will purchase one...

ANSWER:
Can NOT be left on for an hour at a time. Sorry.

Thank you,
z-bolt.com

MY RESPONSE:
OK
I'll be sure to relay this info on candlepower fourms that yours is not the same laser that Bigha sells just the same outer casing as they stated. Wouldn't want anyone thinking that they were getting the same laser cheaper...

Thank You!

RESPONSE:
Whatever, Dude !! Don't do chat rooms, bro.

Thank you,

SO CHAT MEMBERS WHAT DOES THIS TELL YOU? First that BIGHA is correct when they say that the guts of their laser is quite different then Z-BOLTS despite the same outer casing!
AND SECOND: Z-BOLT is run by a couple of amatures that choose to respond to a legit question with the phrase "WHATEVER DUDE"...I think that says it all!!!!

RobH ... welcome to CPF and stay a while /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif !

Thanx for the info ... ahem ... confusion. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

BUT ... it isn't appropriate to post private e-mail conversations on a public forum unless the other party has agreed to it. If you have this permission, fine. If you don't, please remove the quotes and just post the info, please /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif .

Re: Advice on lithium-powered green pointer READ!!

Actually, I think he answered your question pretty clearly and honestly.
I thought all green lasers at stock output were capable of being turned on continuously with no duty cycle; looks like I was wrong...
I guess pointers just weren't designed to do that.

Re: Advice on lithium-powered green pointer READ!!

I have the Jasper always. It always measures > 5.0 mW. Sorry for the pun. It has not been modified in any way. The averaged power is 7.75 mW and the beam is rock solid. Finally a laser I can leave on as long as I like and my dogs and cat love it and there is no risk of burning their eyeballs out! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Btw, the switch CAN be used as a momentary if you depress it very slightly before it clicks on. Think surefire clickie. (Just far less force for lock on)

Cheers!

Re: Advice on lithium-powered green pointer READ!!

Ah ... SF-Clicky ... just what I wanted! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

kongfu ... yes he did, and I didn't attack him on the clarity and honesty of his post, I was just joking about a lot of different info being distributed about the same products /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif ... bad non-native english might miss the humor mark slightly once in a while ... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif
PM inbound ...

BTW ... I have the Jasper Always on backorder now for 2 weeks.
