Hi folks,

I was in contact with Rick London of Tactical LEDs. While at SHOT, Rick had a good long chat with Marc Allsman from AE Light. Unfortunately there are no updates currently planned on the top end of the Xenide line for 2009. But the Xenide 25W is presently undergoing some testing for certification in all gases and dusts according to Rick. I was really hoping for a Xenide 30W hand-held Mag-style, but no such luck.

On the lower end of the scale, AE is planning to roll out a 15W HID later this quarter. According to Rick, AE dealers had access to it, so it does exist. I wish I had an idea for the price of it. If good, I'm going to try and get my hands on one.

I'd probably consider that "ho-hum" news myself, at least with respect to AE Light.

Appreciation to the poster for the update though. :)

I do want a lower power 10w-15w HID mag-style flashlight in my collection, so for me that was the only good thing AE Powerlight is doing.

Besides that, I'm very disappointed in AE Light. Perhaps someone should fill them in on the wattage or lumens war going on between manufacturers. They certainly missed the boat for 2009.

15watts sould be nice with the 25watts power pack or bigger. i need run time.also a slighly larger reflector for more throw.

I also appreciate some of the lower wattage selections but when I think about the price and performance of a lower power AE HID, I can't help but to compare it to something like the 14W Solarc which is almost certainly better in every regard. Availability is always more difficult but the customs really rule the low wattage range imo. http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=206782

I finally did it, just spoke with Mike (PTS) on the phone and placed my order for the AE Xenide 25W with the 4800mAh battery.

I had also wanted it with the 2600mAh battery for the "short" carrying option, but AE doesn't recommend using that battery with the 25w Xenide due to heat issues. I'll be ordering the flood diffuser and amber lens soon to go with it.

I also want to thank you all, and the past posters for all the information on this forum that contributed to me making this purchase. I never realized just how difficult it was to come to a decision for this purchase.

It came down to one of the forum's newest dealers , Tactical HID, who sells the TACTICAL 35W HID XENON TORCH FLASHLIGHT, which has been getting excellent reviews over the last year on Ebay and a price that can't be beat. Also the WE-Boxer 24W, with that great battery magazine and adjustable beam.

Eventually I'll own all 3 of these, but for now, I can't wait for the AE Xenide to arrive.

I don't think you'll be disappointed. The customer service is second to none, so you can't go wrong with it.

It is a very nice light that kicks some serious @$$.

I think you made a great choice Richie. It's a terrific light and I've always felt that AE products were extremely rugged. I like my Xenide25 and AE24/S so much that I'll likely never sell them. I owned the Boxer24W for a while and it was a nice light but for me there seems to be an extra element of quality when it comes to AE.

The Xenide series is definitely built like a tank.:tinfoil:

So were there any other quality HID manufacturers at the SHOT show with anything new? I don't assume Polarion, Xeray etc. go to these shows.

Polarion was there last year and I think they were this year also. Not positive though.
