Sorry if this is a repost but is there a clickie option like a kroll available for the Aleph tailcap instead of the two stage push momentary / twist on option?

Call me old fashion or whatever but I really won't need the two stage brightness and would rather have a push momentary / click on style tailcap.

Yes, It's called a Z57! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Sorry but the Z57 is the solution. I have not given up on trying to find a clickie worth designing around but I have yet to find one. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Thanks for the quick reply Don!

I've got a standard Aleph tailcap that I want to use. I'm sure I know the answer but is there anyway to use the z57 internals with the Aleph tailcap?

Here's the deal, I'm planing on building my g/f a simple light, Aleph 2 head, 1x123 body. I'd like to use a Nexgen750 but I read that there's an issue with some flickering with the two stage switch. I don't want her to think something is wrong with it or that I assembled it poorly or whatever. I'd rather just use a BB611 or something and sacrafice runtime and/or brightness. No flickering with the old BBs and two stage switch right?

I want to build her a nice bright light with good runtime and pocket sized. Suggestions? TIA

The Z57 guts will fit with a little sanding/filing.
I had a Z57/Standard Aleph tailcap set-up and it worked well.

I did a few mods using the Z57 guts but they were problematic and not ultimately dependable.
I forget that there is an issue with the NexGen on low because I just don't see the flickering and I have put a whole lot of these together. I would suggest a NG500 but that's my opinnion.

If you want a light this size with a good clicky, go for a longbow micra and build a McCapsule for it, or just leave it alone. I don't want to harm McGizmos business, but the micra is worth thinking about it. There were rumors about an improvement in the longbow electronics, so it might be perfect with minor modifications (UCL/so17xa) Perhaps even Dons new 19mm Reflector will fit in?

IMHO the best clicky for an E-Series host (--> Aleph) is the Z57 from SF ... and it is now available in Black HAIII that will nicely mate with the dark grey of the Alephs. After all, this is one of the big advantages of an open platform and one of the prime reasons to use it.

Another alternative is the tailcap of the E2D with the same internals as the Z57 if you prefer this form-factor.

Chrisse, I think the 19mm is too deep for a light that is designed around a NX05 or so17xa, but as I do not know the Micra personnally that is an educated guess at best.

Gutted a Z57 and whittled it down to fit a ST. Works OK but every once in a while it won't turn off without a double click.
