Alkaline/Ni-Mhd

I've seen several lights recently that state to use alkaline or ni-mhd batteries. Why are not lithium primaries listed, such enegizer lithiums ? I hate asking such noob questions, but the more I learn, the more questions I have.

I think it's because lithiums have a slightly higher voltage, and might damage some lights.

I think it might actually be seen as a negative. Lights that can use alkalines are almost always geared toward the general consumer, and stating that using $2 L91's in their lights may turn some customers away from the product for "trying to rip them off." Then again, the general public rarely uses those anywhere, let alone in "just a flashlight".
