Hey im ready to do a mag633 and was wondering if AA's could handle amp draws of 11 or so

Some can, others can't. For 11A, you'll probably need a high-current model, like from CBP or something. For around 9-10A or so, you could probably get away with a decent-quality consumer cell like Eneloops.

Just so we're clear, we're talking NiMH or NiCad AAs (probably NiMHs), not alks or lithiums.

Hello 07accordEX,

With most of the consumer AA cells you will be below 1.0 volts per cell at 11 amps.

You'll need special cells meant to handle high discharge if you want to maintain good voltage at over 10 amps.
