Well, once again I have decided to take some more beamshots of my favorite LED lights. I went down into my dark basement, and pointed the lights in a different direction this time. The opposite corner where the bar is was the target...about ~40ft. from the camera and light. As always, I will start this off with a group photo of the contestants...

From left to right we have the L2D-CE, Red Dragon Tri-luxV, McLuxIII-PD UV1J, Quad-luxIII, Seoul modded KL1-R, single Seoul P4 cut-down Mag, and in front my original LOD and newest aquired Draco.

Since I usually go from dimmest to brightest, I will switch it up this time :grin2:

And I just had to save the Draco for last, on burst :)

Well, there you have it. By the the beginning of next week, I should have my terra-lux Seoul drop-in for my 3D mag on 4C cells, as well as my replacement Surefire L5. When I get both of those, I will dig this thread up and add the 2 new lights. Until then, hope you all enjoy!

nice beamies. phhew, that Draco is again very impressive!

He did it again ......

The 2 lights I like the most starts with I-----:grin2:

Thanks for the compliments everyone. Somehow I knew Tom would be one of the first to comment :grin2: I'll tell you what, even though the quad-luxIII isn't as bright as the tri-luxV(350 torch lumens vs. 500), it has become my go-to light for outdoor activities. It's beam pattern is phenominal....nice bright spill beam with ~9,000lux@1m. Combine that with almost 2.5hrs of runtime on high(compared with the Dragon's ~40min) and we have a winner! :)

Strauss you are a visinonary :lolsign:

Regarding the beamshape and throw of your Quadlux......somehow I can understand you

Very best regards

That LOD has a ridiculously nice tint, you definitely hit the lottery with that one!
:huh2:

Very nice pics again, strauss, thanks! I said it before, and I say it again, that Red Dragon of your's has a riddiculous amount of flood! Man, do you even need indoor lightning? :D
The Draco is pretty impressive too...

Lobo: He is referring to the "luxeon lottery", meaning I lucked out on the tint of the emitter. Most all Fenix lights vary in tint, and he is correct as I suspect my LOD as being a UV1J as it is almost identical to my PD.

And about the Red Dragon, yes it has amazing flood :) Since I got the quad-lux, I have dubbed the Dragon as my ultimate "indoor" light. When it is on high, there is no need for indoor lighting :grin2:

I know it was an LED shootout ... but you should have busted out the x990 anyways!

Yeah, I know, was more puzzled over the lack of smileys or hint, irony is a very difficult art to master on the internet. Or that he thougth that the tint on your L0D actually was good.

Strauss, man you are a true flashaholic in the best sense of the word. Thanks for sharing your bounty with us.

That Draco is actually unbelievable. I mean you can't believe it until you see it.

those multi luxeon mags are mean machines...makes me want one for raw output+throw...what type of batteries do they use and how many? stick two of em on a bike and ppl will be wondering what kinda car ur driving.

The Red Dragon uses 6xRCR123's in a special battery holder. The Quad-luxIII uses 2 of the same holders that the Red Dragon has end to end, using 17670's instead...for a total of 6x17670's. Both lights offer 5 output levels, lowest being 20ma(I think:sssh: ) and high being 1amp. Both lights are running 22.2V using the 3.7V figure, but hot off the charger they both see ~25V(batteries are in series). Hope that answers your questions. If you want, I can take some pics of the battery set-ups for you.

Very nice Strauss! I really enjoy beam shots when they're done well. I'm also very impressed with the Draco. Thanks for posting those. :)

nup...no pics pics needed...your descriptions fine...you got more lithiums than i own in just 1 torch lol...but then again i dont have much
