Texas for now, Idaho very soon...
We noticed that you guys were excited to see a new, small Luxeon flashlight so we thought we would unveil ours. Sorry we don't have a real picture of it yet, but here is a 3D image of it next to a standard 3 inch car key. The light has a pushbutton switch, Pyrex lens, optics, aircraft AL body, current regulator, and runs on a single 123a battery. We hope to have one available for a photo shoot soon /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif.

I'm looking forward to it too! I've lost interest in buying a big clunky light like an Arc LSH /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif. You'll be selling these, right? Any idea when, or how much they'll cost? Where is the lanyard hole? I hope it's possible to stand the light LED-end-up on a table, preferably without having to remove the lanyard.

Another 123 LS light! It is starting to look like the first good mini 123 LS light to market is going to sell in a hurry. Cheap 123 cells have open up the market demand for 123 cell flashlights. I know it has worked for me. I don't have a 123 cell flashlight yet, but I'm just waiting now for one to be put up for sale. Good luck hikerdude. Make your light small and make it well and make is soon and you will have many sales.

Nice, and THANK YOU for putting a pushbutton switch.

Is that the final design? My Inova X5T is a pain because of the tail mounted button and the fluting on the body - not enough traction to keep the button pushed for long as my hand slides up the body.

This is why we put this up here so that we can get suggestions on what YOU want in the perfect LED flashlight. We plan to have a push-on/push-off switch to fix the problem of holding the button. We are also considering making S-curve fluting instead of straight fluting for a more controlled grip. The light will have a flat switch end so the light can act as a "candle" and the lanyard will not have to be removed to do so. We are working on a new model of the light that will incorporate these mods into the light. Any other suggestions will be considered and greatly appreciated!!

What will the outer diameter be? I say do whatever you can to minimize it. If the case is strong enough to hold up without the fluting, then don't bother with the fluting, just make the walls thinner all over. See dvodrd's thread about the light he made, the 123's are a tight fit and for some brands he has to peel off the label on the cell. I'd be willing to deal with that to save a little O.D., though I understand a mass market light can't have such a requirement /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif.

I'm fine with a twist switch if it makes the light smaller and/or more waterproof. I don't feel I need a pushbutton.
Where is the lanyard hole and how does it work? How do you change the battery?

[/ QUOTE ]I have to agree with Jon on the PITA traction on the X5's. How about overlapping S fluting?

Hikerdude,
which bin code rating for the lumileds are you going to use, so we can get some sort idea on brightness.
