I bought a 9V, NiMH, 200mAh battery (brand Tronic, type 6HR61, made by Kompernass GMBH in Germany for european discount store chain LIDL) with the idea of harvesting the cells out of it. I was expecting to find six/seven long, thin sub-AAAA cells, or seven oval flat cells as the kind SilverFox found in one of his 9Vs. Dismantling it, however, revealed...

...seven 1/3AAA cells.

Not sure if this can be of interest to anyone, but since the topic of the contents of primary and secondary 9V batteries comes up quite often I thought I'd tell you about this incredible discovery. :p

Here's an idea: you could use three 1/3AAAs in series and a 5mm LED to convert a Maglite Solitaire without the need for driver circuits. Perhaps a resistor would be needed though.

Years ago I had a beginner RC plane that ran on a 4S pack of NiCD 1/3AAA. Had I not smashed it against a tree I could build it another pack with these cells and enjoy twice the runtime... sigh.
