For the life of me I cannot decide if my persuasions have become that of a purist, simpleton or curmudgeon.

For all my lights all I want all too often is something that does no more than click, shine and sip from a small common battery. Have the pleasures of playing, using and collecting come full circle? Maybe in some way I wish to restart and return to when all of this was largely new and unknown to me. What's the fun after having been there and done that?

I would say the only thing left is to revisit. Back to a humble, single triple-a powered, little light. Funny how something so small can haul back a good bit of good memories all though I no longer see that flashlight the same. It's been a good run and now I have found rediscovery and nostalgia share the same road. No shame or harm in heading on down those exits into a new norm. Don't get me wrong my interests and enjoyments in lights are not done and over, just different.

With so much ease and luxury provided by the performance of today's light maybe under-powered and under-performing make for an interesting change and challenge in daily use. I may be on to something.

Why do you think I like Maglite or even Eveready?

Nosalgia gets me more than new designs. I remember how much I enjoyed learning about lights in 2008 and 2009, The tech wasn't even that impressive back then but boy did the future sure look bright!

You don't really need much to be happy with a flashlight. The learning and searching is a lot of fun though.

My buying is starting to slow down and I have enough lights to last a lifetime. I think customs are the future.

So on July 3rd the moon was so bright and the sky was so clear you almost didn't need a light.

I took a vid but no where to upload to.

---letschat7--- I hear ya! As for customs I would not mind fabricating and programing a few lights myself. Then again the last thing I need is another project but it would be fun. I was recently looking into under water LED light strips for fishing, supposedly they attract more fish. I think that would interest more than anything since I've been on the water's edge lately.

Go on a night hike with moonlight and an Incan of your choice.
---bigburly912--- You know, I just might do that. You gave me a good idea right there. I still have a few old, bulky, incandescent Army flashlights. The ones with the funky 90 degree heads and assorted filters and spare bulb in the tail cap. Talk about doubling down on nostalgia!

---letschat7--- In my neck of the woods the moon made an impressive appearance July 2nd. Through the trees on the horizon it showed an odd pale orange, fleshed out to a full bodied red not too far above the tree line and finally rose to a beaming silver shine. Luckily it drifted South, out of the way of the following fireworks display. Would love to see your video of the moon if you find a way to post it!
