I'm going to try the Sylvania Zevos in the brake lights of my Mk4 GTI, probably should have done that immediately on receipt as I now have Golf taillights as the original, now unobtanium GTI taillights were destroyed when I was rear ended... I figure that quicker rise time can't hurt. Hopefully they work in these lights, I don't want to be disappointed.
Question though: are there any good 5008/R10W bulbs available? Red in color? I wouldn't mind using LEDs for the taillights as well, as since I can't get original US GTI taillights I have a pair of smoked Euro tails coming from Ukraine and I figure they'll last longer if I keep the heat out of them. I'm also going to be adding the rear fog light while I'm at it (which is another P21W so no problem) Eventually I may do LEDs for turn signals and reverse but I'm starting with the important ones first.
I know this is a contentious subject, I'm really only interested in solutions that have no drawbacks compared to incandescent. I know the Zevos are considered "possibly acceptable but check before use" but I don't see any 5008s in that line.
Thanks!
