Come on, someone, somewhere, must know something!

They were supposed to be coming out at about mid-March (ooohhhhh...the Ides of March!), which is a couple of days from today.

The dealers at least must have advanced knowledge of this, by a few days at least!

Tell, tell!

just checked the Fenix manufacturer's website and they list the 2xAA tubes for the L1D CE as an accessory.

just also noticed a thread posted by jc28841 where it mentions that the tubes may be available for pre-order.

so - things are happening! A few days later than we thought, but not bad at all.

are they extensions or body replacements ?

Get ahold of SKYWLKR if you want a mod to run 123's and AA's in your L1D CE. Does nice work.

the heads for the L1D CE and for the L2D CE are the same, so the main difference between them is the battery tubes.

so if you get an L2D CE "replacement tube" it should work as an extension to the L1D CE, and vice-versa, if you get an L1D CE replacement tube it could work to transform your L2D CE into an L1D CE.

of course, this is my understanding only - once we order and get these items no doubt there will be posts verifying the info.

Fenix-Store lists "1XAA spare body" for the L1D ($19.00) and "2XAA spare body" for the L2D ($19.50). So you could get one of the lights and the "spare body" for the other for an effectively convertible light. Or am I missing something here?

Those items are new on the site as of the last 24 hours. Too bad they are in Pre-Order status right now, and too bad they cost almost 50% of a new light...

why mod? am i missing something here?
my L1D runs on 14500 for 1hr no dim. and its brighter than P1D CE!
after protection kick-in wait for a few sec then you can run again for extra 20mins or more.

Apparently, you dont get the difference output levels when you run it over 3,0V, the ligth isn't designed for that. That's why many people wants to run it on cr123.

Anyone else except for me that thinks 19USD for an al-tube is a bit pricey?

what's a more appropriate price than $20?

for example, there is a thread about making a tube for the LxD CE to be able to use CR123A's. I think the price requested there is more like $35.

Right now, the Lumapower M3 costs very slightly more than the Fenix LxD CE plus extra tube, and gives you three tubes (the CR123A also) plus focusability. On the other hand, it may have a bit less max lumen output.

So the M3 may be a bit of a better deal, but without the same max output, some will still go for the Fenix.

Well, I got my L1P-tube for 3USD from lighthound. :)
But that was very low. I dont know what a fair price would have been, maybe 15USD. I dont know why, but 20USD seems not to be worth getting an extra tube, when the entire light is around 50USD. And the M3 is roughly the same price, but then you also get a CR123 tube and two different clickies. The fenix seems to have better performance, but Lumapower seems to be better at tint, beamshape, fit and finish.
Oh well, I'll probably survive without the extra tube and get a 1AA cree from kaidomain instead for 10USD. :grin2:

I'd preorder for a $15 tube. At $20 I'm debating if I should just buy the whole light and probably won't get anything.
