I am looking for feedback from members that have modded their lights to Seoul P4 but have also got some serious use out of the lights so that they would be in a position to comment on any tint issues or other problems that might or might not have surfaced.

I have read some posts about color/tint shift that has occurred and am wondering if this is due to poor heat sinking or current over 1000ma.

A few years ago, there was much more discussion and concern about adequate heat sinking of the LED than today, and I wondered if this is causing concern.

I have seen photos of mods done by members where there is almost no heat sinking and no contact, to get rid of heat to the body of the light.

Are we now beginning to look at LED's as something that will get replaced every year, so who cares if they get a little hot?

No long-term data yet at my end. On one mod with a SSC running at 1A I noticed a fairly immediate blue-tint shift that was indicative of poor heatsinking (i.e. within the first few minutes). Added a copper shim under the star, and problem was solved. Have since run through a few run time battery discharges (3+ hours each) with no appreciable change in tint.

But I agree, long-term there's likely to be a lot damaged emitters out there. Certainly a good question, but might still be too early to get a lot of feedback.

CM, while doing a Seoul mod to one of my Chameleons had noticed severe drops in output (bounce with lightmeter) with some of his Seoul P4's, even one that was mounted on a huge heatsink. The drops are more pronounced at 1 amp and over. I will say this, maybe NewBie knew what he was talking about.
