Anyone have experience with IR or UV P60 drop-ins at Battery Junction? Or SpiderFire?

I'm asking specifically about the ones available at Battery Junction because I can't seem to find reference to a manufacturer on their website to be able to search for reviews (no reviews available on their site either). Searching without citing a mfg here yields only general info and (generally negative) reviews of some eBay-purchased modules.

At one point in the last 3 evenings of searches I found a thread on US-made IR P60 drop-ins, but Internet Exploder crashed and lost the history entry, so any help finding that again would be appreciated.

Any suggestions for 'quality' IR and UV drop-ins would be very much appreciated. From what I can tell so far, I'm looking for a <400nM wavelength Cree-based UV P60 drop-in and an IR P60 drop-in that doesn't give off appreciable visible light or just overheat and die randomly. The UV will be used to search for pet stains industrial dyes mostly, and the IR will be torture-tested to see if it's worth sending a few packaged with tan SF G2Ls to some deployed individuals in Afghanistan :santa: (I even got one of the Solarforce Tan Anodized strike bezels to test for this purpose :D ).

edit: or SpiderFire?
edit: hoping to stay away from Communist Chinese products, where is Spiderfire made? Distribution seems to be predominantly from Hong Kong as well...

:bumpit:I've been wanting to know the same thing about the IR model.

On a related note, I took a chance on a ~$16USD 'Spiderfire 3W UV' drop in on eBay and it seems to work just fine. I looked where I knew I would find pet stains on the carpet, and there they were, plain as day. Further and lengthier testing is in order, but I'm pleased so far

Anyone know if the ones from Battery Junction are Spiderfire? This one looks the same as what's pictured there...

I noticed that Solarforce also makes a UV drop in. I am new to UV but you may want to take note of what part of the spectrum they are shining bceause forensic investigation is slotted at a particular range.

For my needs (pet stains and industrial dyes), the Spiderfire seems to work fine, but I did notice that it doesn't work very well on blood. Or at least not without the nifty orange glasses, but I'll be getting some of those soon anyway.

So far, this drop in 'works', but does seem particularly susceptible to heat and drops off in brightness after a few minutes of use, and that's with an aluminum bezel on a SF G2L. I would guess that it would perform better if it could also transfer heat to an aluminum body, but I haven't tried it in a 6P yet.

I'm really looking forward to my Nailbender module, though

I just ordered one from Nailbender.

Blueberry556 - Where do you get those glasses from?

I bought a DX Trustfire TR-C2 after someone told me it was a P60 host (it isn't), so I got a 1W 390nm~450nm UV drop-in for it.

It's decent for the money, and bright up close, but drops off pretty quickly. It'll show up stains well up close, works great on money and credit cards, and turns rubies an amazing color.

I'm looking forward to hearing feedback on the Nailbender module.
