Hey guys, is there anywhere to get really cheap Arctic Alumina or anything that will conduct heat but is electrically nonconductive? I wanna use it to isolate the slug of a SSC P4 or KLC8. Just need enough for one LED. I have a bunch of thermal paste, but I hear that wont isolate it because it may still touch. Is there any way to make a thermal adhesive from the thermal paste. Would mixing a glue and thermal paste work?

cheapest place would be from ebay....

and no...mixing paste with epoxy the mixture wont settle completely and your joint may crumble out

Don't know what "cheap" is, but Directron.com (based out of Houston, TX) sells AA or AS adhesives for $9.99 (pastes (non-adhesives) are $5.99).
Anyhow, I've bought many things from them over the years, and every order has either been correct, or they've corrected it quickly and at their expense (they sent wrong USB cables one time (several)... we notified them, they told us to keep the wrong ones and we had the new replacements the next morning (in Dallas, we get nearly everything from them next day, 2 at most depending on when we order).
Anyhow, I don't represent them but they've been consistently excellent over the years.

Johnny....make sure you meter the led to make sure it's not grounded through the base when done...it's easy to make a mistake. You might look for other posts on how to isolate the led...several modders have suggested different methods..that I don't have time to repeat here.
If you aren't drawing max power ( 1 amp say)...it's not as critical. If your pulling 1 amp- the led will throw blue light in about 15 seconds if your epoxy job isn't conducting heat fast enough. Turn it off..real fast!
