i would like to purchase a arc aaa, but want to get the best one possible. at: arc LE there is one available. I understand that there are many different makes on the arc aaa. is the the best one i will be able to purchase?

Well, first of all understand that the Standard is now the same thing only in black and cheaper. Second of all...yes. There are many versoins of the Arc AAA but they're more like generations of it, this is the most current, and therefore the best, version.

so the standard is the EXACT same thin only black and cheaper? does it have the type III finish and everything? if so, then the only difference other than the color and the price is the engraving right?

Nope....standard doesn't have the type III finish (with the different color) or the special engraving.

Hmmmmm...there are so many different versions of Standard vs. LE floating around, I thought the standard had type III...

LE LE LE, I meant to type LE! But I mean when 1 letter means the difference between 2 products, like Saturns...would you like a SC1 or a SW1...ok sorry...

LE, standard vs. LE, got it? Good.

From what I understand, the LE is the only one with the Type III hard finish. I thought that it had a little bit brighter L.E.D. than the standard version as well, but I could be wrong about that.

Whoa! Everybody slow down.

The difference between the LE and the standard *TODAY*:

LE has SB1 LED, the standard has SB2. Same brightness, slightly different tint.

LE is natural HA III, standard is black HA III

LE has "Limited Edition" written on it, the standard does not.

Those are the differences. An LE is natural colored with a slightly greener LED with "Limited Edition" written on it. Everything else is pretty much equal. They are equally durable and equally bright.

When the LE first came out, it was the first with the S rank bulb. The standard, at the time, had an R-ranked bulb. Also, when the LE first came out, the standard was type II anodize.

Today, they are the same animal with the differences noted above. Same brightness LED, same durable finish. At one point the standard was better than the LE because the standard was improved with Chemcote after the LE was out of production for a while.

darell is correct. But now I'm confused as to why anyone would spend so much more on the LE version (although I do like the color of it).

People like the fact that there are fewer of them, they like the natural color, and some even like the SB1 tint better.

The SB1's are tough to come by, so you're paying for that rarity.

I'd love to see the standard in natural HA III...

I think you just answered your own question...

He he he...I think my standard has the SB1 so THERE! Standards can get the SB1 but LEs are guarnteed to have it, as a member would say...

'nuff said.

Oh yeah, I edited my post above, it was just a stoopid typo.

1 More post and the pool won't hurt it...just don't change the battery at 9 feet and expect to be able to change it again 2 weeks later.

And you don't want to be a flashaholic...it's very expensive

Rothrandir.....Stop!.....don't do it.....you'll never be the same and you can't go back. Nooooooooooo!

Pool? You think sissy pool water will hurt it?

Nahh. Won't happen. Mine go swimming all the time. Plus through the washing machine. Plus in the dog's water bowl, plus in the toilet.

Trust me, the pool won't hurt it.

I agree with the others. Stop posting now before it is too late.
