Are the Aleph 2's completely defunct?

Be Advised: the following is coming from a newbie to the world of custom lights.

As far as I can tell, the A2 shell is an ideal platform for the McR-20-S reflector/Seoul P4. Considering that the Seoul is the current champ in LED popularity, why haven't the A2's made a revival? Specifically, why are they no longer offered at the Shoppe? Are there any pitfalls to the A2 head that I'm unaware of?

I just purchased an A19 Cree/GD750 assembled head from the Shoppe. Im going to slap it on an L4 body (with 17670 li-ion) and test it as an LE duty light. I'd like to compare it to a Seoul/McR20S/A2 before having a custom kydex holster built for the winner.

The A2 head and a Seoul L.E still make a very good combination and
produce a great beam profile, which must be identical to the latest
Ti-PD-S. There is a flexibility as well to change the drive levels according
to the L.E used and the runtime according to the body used.

With the Seouls here now and perhaps newer, more efficient luxeons
before too long, the traditional Aleph1,2&3 are as relevant as ever IMO.

However they are not being produced anymore (except in Ti on the odd
occasion by those who hand-machine on their lathes)

I am lucky enough to have acquired all three in Ti, and can now upgrade
them accordingly, if needed, by upgrading the L.Es if/when newer
and more efficient leds emerge. :)

All three of them are vastly improved in terms of output with Seoul L.Es
compared to Lux3.

I've been snooping at the Sandwich Shoppe and there are several Alephs available which I'm very interested in... but I'd like to know if I can use the Pila 600P rechargables (the higher-capacity ones that don't fit in Surefires) in these lights? What I'm looking for is something approximately SF L2 sized (or a tad larger) that takes the Pila 600P and uses either a CREE or Seoul P4 in a small EDC type head and a quick-change larger thrower head. I figured the A1 and A3 heads would be perfect as long as they have the appropriate LED in the LE, but I want to make sure I can use the long-runtime batteries before I drop the cash...
