Are the new AW 18650 the same as IMR 18650?

Hi,

Note: I want to run 3A~4A of current with my LED Zepplin creations.

Over at the Market place I noticed AW sells the 2600 mAh cells that are said to be good for 5A of current. The IMR 18650 he sells are also made for high current I think 4.5A.

I am looking for the cells that will sag the least under load and in the past the IMR route seemed logical, but I was just wondering if the new AW cells offer the same characteristics with the added protection and mAh capacity.

Thank you,
bigchelis

The protected 18650s may sag a little more than the IMRs, but not enough to outweigh the advantage in capacity. 3-4A is well withing the recommended discharge rate of the protected cells. Since your light is regulated, the voltage sag won't be noticeably to you anyway. The Shark(s) might have to work a little harder, but in the end, you'll get considerably longer runtime with the protected cells.

Thanks gswitter,
I figured that about the Shark.

What type of Leoupold hosts did you use for the P91 lamp?

Who made your Mag P7 3 "C" NiMH light?????

Thanks,
Jose
