Argh... How the flying flip frig do you unconnect this conector?

Ok, I made the mistake of seeing how the connectors join and now I cna't unjoin them. Worst I thought they're quick release connectors but bollocks to that.

I have a Philmore No. 61-402, .062" -2 Circuit-UL Plug & recept w/pins connector.

I tried using two pairs of needle nose pliers to gt it apart but no dice. Apparently there is a release tab on both sides but I've been grunting it out the last 30 odd mins trying to unconnect this connector. I'm about to put this on the target stand and get the guns and load up and shoot this connector up.

Any idea how to release this conenctor?
