Attempting run time test on M31 and M31L

I decided to try a run time test on Malkoff M31 and M31L today. I have both in e1e bodies with VME head. I turned both on standing them in a glass at 1133. When I attempted to pick up the M31 model to do a light reading at 1203 the flashlight was too hot to comfortably pick up. The 31L was slightly warm but nowhere near hot. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? Should I have a fan pointed at them? This was done indoors with ambient temp at about 73 deg.. I'm obviously a noob at this so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

ETA: both had new Battery Station primary 123 batteries installed.

Hi there,

More runtime info with the M31 is always useful, if you could post any data you get in the main Malkoff M31 thread, it would be appreciated - lots & lots of good info there. :thumbsup:

Edit:
I've done a few full runs on 2x AA NiMH with the M31W and yes, it does get hot. Think of it as stress testing for proper 'burn in' of the unit. ;-)

If you're worried about it, you could always run it in a 3/4 full glass of water for better cooling, but I wouldn't sweat it. <shrug>

ETA=edited to add

I will post in the main M31 thread. My main concern was is it ok to let the light heat up like that, both for the light and for general safety?

Duh! Just realized the test has been done, my apologies.
