I just bought my first surefire E2E a few months ago and have been using it ever since and have gone through numerous batteries. It went out today and i put new batteries in, pressed it on momentarily, then off, then tried turning it back on again but it would not come on. I changed batteries and still nothing, is the bulb out? i looked at the filament and it does not look like the filament is broken, any ideas?

It might be burned out, but it doesn't sound like you've put that many hours on it. Have you tried removing the tailcap and closing the circuit with something else (paperclip, DMM, etc.)? If that doesn't work, use a DMM to check the bulb for continuity.

Welcome to CPF!

As mentioned, you can try another new set of SF123A batteries, and you can check the lamp is not broken using a continuity meter.
(it is not always possible to see where a filament has broken)

If you feel the bulb has failed far sooner than you were expecting I suggest you call SureFire and to see whether they can help.

If you have a DMM, test the resistance () of the bulb. If it reads off the scale, it is broken.

thanks a lot guys for your help, what does dmm stand for and where can i find one?

A DMM is a digital multimeter. You can get them from Radio Shack. Buy a cheap one.

I don't know where you live, but here in Ohio we have a chain of discount stores called Marcs. They were selling a DMM for $5. Now, I have a drawer full of DMMs running from $50 to more than $2,000. But the little Marcs wherever-the-heck-it-came-from meter is more than good enough for most things. So I bought three and gave the extras away :)

Put the meter on a low resistance range and touch the leads to the bulb leads. It should show something other than open circuit.
