No, they are not as long as the protection is on the driver itself.
Protected batteries and salt fog environments are not compatible, according to iur experience.

Ok, I changed my bat right away.
What i noticed before was that the protection of the 18650 shuts the light off before the light it does itself. (My buddy and I got he same Barbo, so it was a direct comparison).
How does the circuit protects the battery exactly? Is there a shut off at some point?
