Hi Everyone,
Up for review is the Barbolight T-15, AND, the Barbolight T-04, as 2 high quality tanks, I found it better to compare them among each other, and with other similar size lights. because of this, the thread might be longer than normal.
Here are some specs of the T-15,
and the T-04
More information can be found in the threads linked below.
This light was supplied by Barbolight for review, it can also be purchased online at their website, http://www.barbolight.com/
A Bit of Background:
The Barbolight T-15 and T-04 both have very extensive histories, having been upgraded since then. For the purpose of this review, I'll just include relatively recent developments (~2 years), and so it brings us back to 4/13/07, where of the first of many versions of T-15 and T-04 were released. The thread is here. The T-04 began with an Edison Cree EZ1000 , and the T-15 with 4. (the original edison LEDs.. a blast to the past
). Further information about the T-04 was release on 9/3/07, here, and here. Jump forward a bit more to 9/25/08, and we have a circuitry upgrade here. Now, in 2009, 4/15, to be exact, the T-15 was upgraded to what it is now, thread here. I may have missed some upgrades as there have been soo many.
Whew, that took a long time to research and write.. might have some errors, too!
Here we go! onto the tanks!
both lights can use the current AW flat topped 2600mAh 18650s for the longest runtime.
Up first is the T-04!
pretty rough knurling on in the section.. very grippy -- apologies for the dust
Titanium clip --the tension is pretty tight, and it touches the knurling
This is all I could disassemble. The head is sealed to make sure water doesnt get in when you're diving.
The vast amount of certifications are on the other side. The printing isn't the best though.
Comparison:
Indoor Shots:
Tiablo A9, Hoyttech HL-1, Eagletac T20C2, Fenix TK11, Barbolight T-04, Dereelight CL1H V4 W/LC-1 3 mode dropin, Malkoff MD2 w/Malkoff M60 dropin
Outdoor Shots:
compare these with other ones in this thread
Impressions: The tailcap is a bit harder to activate than the T-15. it seems that it is stiffer. Overall, I cannot find any fault in the construction of the light, with its impressive array of qualifications, and dive rating. I find the engraving on the head a slightly lower quality, but it does not affect the performance of the light. The beam shows the infamous Cree ring.. guess Barbolight couln't get rid of it with their current reflector. The light has been well designed, and uses nop notch materials. Even the clip is made of water-cut titanium  In the process of taking outdoor beamshots, I had the unfortunate experience of dropping the light from its tripod perch, 3-4 feet to hit the stones below. The light suffered just a scratch where other lights would have been dented!
Now, the T-15
the knurling is smoother on this light. its large size makes it just as easy to grip!
Very nice cooling fins
The tailcaps seem to be interchangeable. -- very nice Delrin button.

Impressions: This light is the big brother of the smaller T-04, with the 2x18650 battery format. This light is hefty, yet balanced, all the while also having an impressive dive rating. Barbolight has been famous for its "tank" lights, and I wouldn't hesitate to call this one the same. I do not anticipate either of these lights ever breaking anytime soon. This light, from what I can discern, is very well designed from the emitter up. There is no easily noticeable donut at the center of the beam, and it is nice and smooth. The warm tint of the P7 makes for a very nice light.
