How do you figure out which end of the battery is positive and which is negative. Is positive the end that has a circle around it(like on the positive end of all the rechargeable batteries I have)?

meter, or if you dont have a meter a LED will work in a pinch.

there ARE batteries out there that are completly reversed from what we deem to be normal, with a smaller end being negative.
like for example square canned li-ions have the can positive, and a smaller connection sticking out as negative, surprises me everytime , , still.
there are also propriatary and military batteries that are reversed from what we think should be normal convention.

usually the negative is the can, but not at all always, best to check with something that tells you the polarity, or try and find its spec sheet.

chances are very good that the polarity is just like your normal rechargables that you are used to.

Go to Home Depot, RadioShack, Lowes, pretty much anywhere, and get yourself a cheap multimeter. A decent one can be had for $10~15, and the uses are endless! Good investment if you ask me. :twothumbs
