Thought this might be of interest to the forum, especially this quote:

"The University of Missouri team says that the batteries hold a million times as much charge as standard batteries"

Makes those li-ion concerns seem a little tame in comparison...

Do a web search on betavoltaics. Nuclear batteries have been around for a while. US DOD has been researching and developing these for years. High energy density. Poor power density.

Just don't mix new batteries with ones that are at their half-life...

First thing I thought of when I saw this title was; "Now everyone can have their own little Chernobyl in their living room at some point of time in their life".

lol indeed - I wonder how many of these batteries that you would need to put together to create the critical mass required to create a Chernobyl type explosion. I would guess many thousands at least.
