Please bear with me. Rusty on the time exposure photography. New to messing with digitized film in volume.
Newer Marwi MR11 bullet shaped housing modded with a copper pipe union liner and a pill made from a pipe cap. Heavy (125 gm) but superb heat transfer (110-115 F (low 40's C) at room temp and still air, a ceiling fan will bring it down to high 90's F (high 30's C)).
So how does it work? Let's see:
(Full auto settings)
Bike light is mounted with a Marwi mount to the stem using all the shims. Copper heat sink is visible. Nice match to bike. Tristar made of three 10 mm square Carclo 10417 "Narrrow" optics.
(Auto with - 1 stop override)
Light at 1 A. Yeah works & no smoke!
MTBR settings of ISO 100, daylight, F 4.0, exposure 6 seconds adapted to ISO 200 daylight, F 5.6, 6 seconds (equivalent). All following photos at this setting unless noted otherwise.
Note the yellow close flood area separate for the hot spot which is from 20 feet to 80 feet. Throw is lighting neighbor's garage door. Yard light is a triple CFL candelabra bulb of about 3 watts each. Note handlebar (fender and tire, too) are lit by light.
Beam shot target. Taken on auto, hand held with ambient light. Yard tape is metric side out, and rule is also a yard bothe centered (or very close on 18". Next shots at 48" from front of light.
Low setting on Bflex driver. 45 mA.
500 mA.
700 mA.
1 A.
1 A at new position to show colored spill.
Some of the light that is not coming out the lenses is reflected off the copper heatsink and is providing a lot of near spill that I though looked warmer, and it is. On the right it is reflecting off the paper box the light is sitting on and so is green. That is an artifact of my MacGivered photo setup.
The beam is a bit hostile at the full 1 A if it is not reaimed or powered down some. The Bflexes duomode in a 500/1000 configuration seems to be fine for this. I will need a tripod as my shots were either not stable enough or I altered the zoom, or some other factor making them useless for this post. For my purpose, they bore the two mode solution out.
