Hello, today I was going through some old stuff of mine and I found an old lighter which I found years an years ago while playign with a friends metal detector...I foudn it when I was a kid and kept it ever since in my collection...It is a Berkeley windproof lighter...I looked up the company years ago and found out that they were in direct compition with Zippo lighters in the 40's and 50's...I only have the insert now not the case, but I was lookign at it and I read the back and it has on it "Flashlight compnay of America...Jersey city, NJ...made in USA) So I got to thinking, was Berkeley a flashlight company in the 1940's and 50's? Does anyone have a Berkeley flashlight? I was just curious about it and I was wonderign if anyone has more information about this company...I never thought anythgin of it before, but now that I am a flashaholic, lol, it interests me...So any additional info would be great...
I am a hardcore Zippo fan, but I ike the design on the insert, having everythgin closed up so less fuel can escape...plus a nice hidden screw encloses a spare flint under the gas cap, another nice feature I wish Zippo used...
Here are some pics...
