Best 2D mag mod?

I would like to use AA alkaline and have it direct drive. I have seen a great 3cree 4AA alkaline direct drive mod. (appears to be almost as bright as the P7 mod on lion)

Is that my best option?

any help for this newb would be greatly appreciated

Check this thread out. It could help a bit.

For direct drive, you might be able to get the AAs wired up in two strings of 4 series, and then driver a quad die LED like the MC-E or P7.

Forget alkalines. Build a mag623.

Yeah I know alkalines are cheap, im only using them because they are free at work. I never heard of the mag623. WOW gotta make one of those eventually. Thanks. lol great quote!
