I know a 6 cell maglite will be a great host for this globe. But I would like something smaller for which this globe will just be a drop-in.
Either a 2 cell 3.7V flashlight, or a 6 cell AA flashlight. Or even a double barrel C or D cell flashlight would be fine.

Thanks

I use the HPR71 6v lamp in a 2D Maglite with 6xVARTA 2500mah AAs. Nice and bright! At least 300 lumens OTF. However just bear in mind that the 6v lamp is being over driven by quite a margin and the dangers of instant flashing and dramatically reduced bulb life are very real. These bulbs are also pretty expensive at around $12 a pop here in Oz.

Thanks for the response. You don't maybe know its average life when being overdriven like this?
Currently I use the bulp in a Harricane lantern with a 7.2V RC car batterypack. So far so good. It really has got a lot of throwing power with its small tight-spot

Think I'll get banned for saying this but I'm so impressed with this light that I just had to share.

My TK40 does have a much brighter light, especially when used as close range BUT this HPR71 globe in my lantern overdriven to 7.2 volts do make a tree more than 200 meters away look twice as lit than with the TK40:grin2:

Just today I've received a new toy. Its a 2 500 000 candlepower Johnlight JML2922RF and my HPR71 powered lantern easily throws a more brite light at that tree. And the runtime on the 2 500 000 candlepower spotlight is only 20 minutes or say compared to the runtime of more than an hour on the much brighter HPR71 globe.

What a nice spotlight it turned out to be and it was built up from "spares" I had around the house
