Best way to mount p7 to heatsink

I going to put my 3x p7 in der wichtels heatsink but i am having difficulty finding the right way to do it. Artic silver seems to work fine but is there a trick how you to make sure you get the best results? A thin layer is necessaire but how do i accomplish that? Any other thoughts or products are welcome too!!

I have been Arctic Alumina thermal adhesive with excellent results. To apply it, (after its mixed of course) I dab a small ball of it in the center of where the emitter is going and then press the emitter into it (carefully).

I was always afraid that by spreading it out first, then putting the emitter on I would get a bubble.
