(I had sometime in a waiting room to write about my afternoon)
I first crossed over a few months ago. It was a LumensFactory E0-6 (from the marketplace) that lead me to leave the restrictions of the led world and immerse myself in the higher resolution of uber incans. But I didn't use the EO-6 much (I sheppard my primaries) and the output wasn't great on a single 18650 and though I spent some time with burning fillaments it was always short and limited.
No longer. Today I am a happy incan user.
I'd ordered 18650 extension tube back in September, and because I didn't want to get caught up with any ridiculous delays I ordered a 2nd as backup. I finally recieved one of them today:laughing:.
And I am happy.
As I openned the letter I smiled when I saw it was an extension tube, and it was gunmetal, the same colour as my Solarforce L2. I had my IMR 18650's sitting at 4.0v, so I was able to remove the tailcap, slide out the two 16340's, attached the tubes together, add the 18650's, the tailcap, and I was ready to select my target. I spied a cedar tree across the backyard, just behind the shed. Snow was falling and the sky was dark and grey, though it was 1:30pm in the afternoon. I took aim with my L2 and fired off the WA 1274. Lumens flew straight and true, lighting up the hapless tree.
The colour was bright and white. I was as transfixed as the tree was. It swayed listlessly under the bombardment of snowflakes. I watched them slowly accumulate, my beam was not dimming, not fading, no tint shift to yellow. The extension tube, a simple piece of machined metal, had transformed my incan options. No longer would the incans be short bursts for comparision. With up to an hour run-time, now, I could use them properly, now they would accompany me.

What combo's and bi-pin bulbs are best? hardware options include:
2x IMR 18650
2x AW2600 18650
4x IMR 16340
dummy cell

tested so far:1111, 1274, 1164, KD 773u
still in the drawer:1166, 1185,

I've referenced EG's and MD's guides' but haven't found any compilation for bi-pin bulbs. There's some info from FM's sales threads. Does anyone know of a resource I've missed?

I've had good success with 2x IMR 18650 + 1274. It is visibly brighter than with 2x 18650 (AW 2600ma).
(Still no match for 8eneloop 1164, but it really pumps up the power of the d26) form factor.

I also just got a Bipin adapter from FM and got his 1909 bulb and a WA1111 to play around with. Its pretty impressive. Dont have enough V to play around with the 1909 yet.... but with the FM deep reflector and a WA1111 on 2X 18650 the 2C mag is pretty impressive.

If you can get them, take a 1331 for a spin on three cells, better then 1185's for this platform. And IMRs are the only way to fly when heavy amperage is needed.

The FM1909 is on heck of a lamp. You need the voltage holding ability of either IMR 18650 or 26500 to make this lamp shine. Running it on the FM3X head is almost portable HID as far as I am concerned.

DO NOT run the 1185 on IMR cells even with an AW softstart - they just don't shed enough volts to not :poof: the cells. You need the LiCO black 2600mAh 18650s to run the 1185 and even then be careful.

I do run the 1111 on 2xIMR26500 with no problems what so ever though and it is the brightest 2 cell lamp I have seen. The MN21 is pretty intense on 2 cells but I had one explode and ruin a KT4 head on me - that is a painful $200 mistake. The LF IMR-M3T is also another favorite of mine - wuite a thrower.

I currently have an IMR-M6 in a KT1 head on 3 IMR16340 as my bedside lamp. 1000 lumens for 5 minutes for if/when you really need it.

All I'm saying is you could try some of the LF bulbs too - they are designed for throw and IMR voltages so never worry of a :poof:.

Who make the 1331? I can't find that for sale anywhere.

thanx for some of the tips.

So it seems like there isn't bi-pin compendium.

Hurm, I just ran the 1185 on 3x 16340 and it was very nice, so I disagree with you saying IMR doesn't work.
