Who is the biggest flashlight factory in the world?
Who sells the most flashlights ?

Is it Surfire? Pelican? Streamlight? Energizer ? .........Who is it

Yes it can be, i think Nuwaiis a very big.

We can make a difference, biggest in the world abd biggest in the USA.

Thanks, when someone have real numbers, not opinions.

Yes can be, but that i mean is more the real factories like SF, Streamlight, Pelican, UK, Mag...

http://www.energizer.com/company/companyhistory.asp

At the bottom of the page:
[font=Verdana, Arial][size=-1][font=Verdana, Arial][size=-1]"...With global headquarters in St. Louis and over 10,000 Associates in 140 countries, Energizer stands as the world's largest manufacturer of batteries and flashlights, dedicated to predicting and meeting the needs of the consumer...."

Problem is, I don't believe it.

Do you mean who is the largest flashlight manufacturer?
That would probably be the same as "who sells the most flashlights".
I'd be inclined to guess Dorcy or Garrity.

In terms of the largest factory though, that would be hard to say since parts may be sourced from various vendors and then assembled and packaged in other locations. I think it would be reasonable to presume that all of those locations would be in Southeast Asia, with the fastest growing being the Shenzhen area in the Guangdong province of China.

Insofar as manufacturers in the U.S., Mag Instruments has got to be largest producer in the country by a very large margin.

It's a company w/o brand. Because most of the branded guys send it to them for production (SF not being one of them)
It's locate in China, where else.

Modamag is right there. The factories in China do have names, but their names would not appear on the product. And it would not be unusual for the same product to bear several different brand names, or for a product to be made from several different factories. Additionally, there is often no waste as their rejects are called "second quality" and are often sold through different channels either locally or over the internet.

You have to have in mind that brands that are big in the US are pretty unknown outside, I never ever had heard about brands like Dorcy, Garrity etc before becoming a member here. Also have in mind that only a fraction of lights that are used by regular people all over the world are branded quality lights. So the biggest manufacturer is probably somebody completely unknown.

I would also say that the only light that is known globally is Maglite (and to some very small niched segment, Surefire).

My guess is also a Chinese company. Probably, the one that pumps out a gazillion plastic no-name flashlights that you see in every 99 cent store.

Is the C in Dorcy hard or soft? IOW, is it pronounced Dorsy (rhymes with horsey) or Dorky (which sounds... oh never mind)?

Figures from China are notoriously unreliable.

Chinese factories and banks are known to routinely falsify records to deceive the central government. Even the Chinese government probably couldn't get reliable stats on the number of lights produced in China, even assuming it wanted to.

It's possible that someone could do the research and come up with reliable figures for the big U.S. manufacturers. The bigger manufacturers are publicly held, meaning they have to keep records that meet standard accounting practices.

Do you guys really think Mag sells more lights than Eveready?

Eveready lights are available even in small corner stores all across the U.S. Also in drugstores, supermarkets, convenience stores, etc. Comments from UK and Australian CPFers suggest Eveready is widely available in those markets. I'd bet that each year Eveready sells literally millions of their inexpensive plastic 2Ds.

Mag is typically available in hardware stores, some sporting goods stores, big box stores like Target, etc. Most people still think Mags are too expensive.

it has got to be Favourlight http://www.shingfung.com.hk/ most of the flashlights ( many not visible on the website. i have like 3 x 2006 fat catalogues which i got from them in Practical World exhibition in Cologne and all with different lights ) they manufacture are re branded with many many names like Nuwai, Aurora, Xtremelite, Cybalite, Auro just to name a few known ones as well as many other unknown brands and unbranded ones.
Taken from their catalogue( also found on website ): " Favour Light is one of the world's largest flashlight manufacturers starting as parts provider in 1970, we have grown rapidly into a key player in the global illumination market." " Backing up our innovation is a 1,500-strong skilled and dedicated workforce in our 259,000 sq.ft. production facility. this unwavering strength is responsible for producing 500 illumination devices to the world each year"

I think that there might be a typo on the "500 illumination devices to the world each year" but they might mean 500 new models.

Big isn't always beautiful ! ;)

I think it's one of the no-name-low-quality chinese factories.
