Bin Codes Don\'t Matter

Yes, I said it, and here's why:

If you buy a manufactured Luxeon flashlight, of course Bin Code plays a big part in beam quality. But if you MOD a light (I Am posting this in the right section, aren't I?), you now have three ways to "fix" the final output:

1) too green -- Minus Green film gel (or similar)

2) poor beam smoothness -- Acrylite (or WriteRight, although recent tests confirm Acrylite to be far superior, IMHO)

3) too dim due to 2 and 3 -- drive it harder with the plethora of regulating circuits out there (and more to come).

With that said, I would now like to offer my new super white, super smooth beamed mod using 5W Luxeons of Bin Code T1Z...

I agree. Nice stuff, that Acrylite...

I like T1Z... where can I get some? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Those are a very special bin code -- they factory actually Pays You to take them off their hands!

Re: Bin Codes Don\'t Matter

And if they're too blue, too bright and too narrow a beam try a Minus Blue filter plus a Light Gray diffuser.. All them filters, so little time.. There goes my Sundays...

Mr. Bulk,

I hear what your saying, but I disagree. I would probably like to spend a little bit more to get a good binned LED, rather than have to buy some minus green film gel, acrylite, and have to play around with how it should be driven. That is just my opinion.

I do realize however, that some people have been so caught up in bin codes, if they don't have the latest and greatest bin code, they aren't happy.

I think you may be missing how far out to the side of his cheek Mr. Bulk's tongue is lodged.

He is having fun adding a whole series of truths together from which the listener may choose to infer a misleading conclusion.

I personally find the reference to the hypothetical dreaded T1Z to be hilarious.

Re: Bin Codes Don\'t Matter

This is all too deep for me but suffice it to say, PayPal sent! Oh yeah, I don't need to be concerned with run time do I?

Oh yeah, one other Q: Is the customer's purchase also subdizied by Lumileds?

Mr. Bulk:

Will these 5 watters be available in the single "N" cell format?
As a registered CPFer, I'll take brightness over runtime any day. (Of course at night I may think differently.) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Bin Codes Don\'t Matter

If you carefully examine a T1Z, you can see the filament embedded in the green phosphor. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hey guys, I was serious! Seriously deranged, that is...

But seriously, the inevitable hiccups coming in the steady supply of truly stellar Luxeon Bin Codes can now be overcome by judicious application of the little tweaks mentioned.

Yeah, it's so far off, his tongue may even be somewhere else besides his cheek /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Bin Codes Don\'t Matter

Oh, it's by a cheek all right, just not a visible one...

Re: Bin Codes Don\'t Matter

Will this light also have the coin-cell body I've heard so much about?
