I've got a Teknolite that's broken in the threads. I've not had the greatest luck with superglue and was hoping for some new ideas. I like the translucent orange and they don't make that anymore so I'd like to salvage this if possible.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Go to a local hobby store in the models section and look for a small clear bottle of plastic cement. It's made by Testors..a real glass jar with a black lid. There is a small brush attached to the lid. This cement actually melts the plastic back together. Just give it mucho drying time..like a couple of days for the plastic to re-harden. I've pulled off some amazing repairs wuith this stuff.

Thanks, I'll look around here and if I can't find it I'll check the next time I'm in the US. I've used something like that for PVC coated steel tubes here. I wonder if that's similar. Since I'll likly only have one shot at this I'd like to get it right.

if that doesn't work and the fit of stuff is slightly loose going in the tube you may want to get a few pieces of hard metal and small screws and scab it back together.

JB Weld, it's not orange but is pretty tough. Use either the regular or quick set stuff.

But whatever glue you decide upon, be sure to thoroughly scuff up and clean the areas to be bonded together.

Also, have you contacted Teknolite to see if they would simply replace the light?

Actually the Teknolite was replaced but like I said the translucent ones aren't around anymore so it's opaque. That's why I'm trying to salvage this one. It won't be used the same way because it won't be as strong but I still like the way it looks.
