I recently bought a Ver2 Deep M*g camless reflector that wanted to try with a sst-50, but finally decided to go with an incan.
I've been looking to LuxLuthor's destructive test but I don't know wich bulbs are the right size for this reflector.
My set-up will be with no softstart and can take from two 18650 up to four 18500 imr cells (I can charge the cells up to 4.2V or 4.1V for no :poof: if necessary).
This is going to be a "wow" light, so don't need a big runtime.
Thanks.

Great choice! Those are great reflectors. I had one that fell victim to an unfortunate ROP fog.

Please tell us a bit more about your setup. You mention the Ver2 deep reflector, but don't mention anything else. I presume you're using it on a maglite. Are you using a bi-pin adaptor, or do you need to use the standard PR bulbs (like a stock maglite)?

For 2x18650s, it's hard to drive a really bright bulb. Your best bet is a 5761, although it's a wide bulb, and may not fit through the opening of your reflector.

4x18500s opens up a lot more options. Again, bulb it is an issue, but known good bulbs are Hikari 5033 (I use this one as a LOLA for a mag623).

One important factor is that a stock maglite switch won't take more than 5 or 5.5 amps for long, so you'll have to choose a bulb that will draw less than this.

Good luck!

Yes, I'm using it with a maglite and have a kiu high temp socket (I wish I had an AW softstar but they aren't on stock). Not decided yet what switch going to use, but for sure not the stock one.
I'm more a led guy (I use them at work) and completely lost with incans, so all your help is apreciated; thanks a lot.
By the way, what is a LOLA? I've read it several times but don't know what it is.

LOLA low output light assembly.
HOLA high output light assembly.

Thaks for the info, Norm. At first it was a bit funny for me because:
LOLA: spanish girl name.
HOLA: "hellow" in spanish.

Hola Fivemega. What do you think its the best option?
Maybe Hikari jc-5043 or a jc-5051? Not shure if they are going to fit. I have the possibility of ussing only 3x18500 if necessary.

Brightest bulb for 3 IMR 18650 is FM1909.
For best performance reduce every possible resistance and use 3 IMR 26500

I knew about the FM1909, but they aren't in stock, isn't it?
About batteries, my host can't take 3x18650 nor 3x26500, just up to 3x18500.

Ever since I got my 2 AlanB drivers I have had a spare AW switch and have been wondering what to run it with - Mag3D with a FM1909 sounds like a pretty good idea! How do I go about buying 2 or 3 of these bulbs?

I will open another prepayment thread like this for pack of 4 FM1909 bulbs.

This bulb will work with 3 IMR 18500 or larger. Obviously 3 IMR 26500 or 3 IMR 26650 will do the job much better.

Please see here and here.

A380;

From your description, it sounds like you're using a 3C maglite. You can use IMR 26500s, if you bore out the body of the light. Others have done it with sandpaper and a dowel. You could also take it to a local machine shop.

Although this is more hassle, the advantages of a 26500s is just too large to ignore.

I actually went the other way and bought a D cell maglite. You can roll up paper or cardboard to form a spacer so that the cell fit properly. I know maglites are expensive in Europe, but the 26500 has double the capacity of the 18500.
