What bulb will handle 4x123a batteries that you can actually get your hands on?I have ordered some Welch Allyn bulbs from the group buy,but this will take a while.

Well, the Mag 6 cell bulbs will handle 12 volts. You'll get more longevity out of the Kryptons than the Xenons, but the Xenons are whiter and brighter.

The only WA's I am aware of that work well on the relatively low current 123's are the 1274 which is edgy on 12 volts, and the 1318, which is bright and safe.

1274's are a 50/50 on 4 cells.

4.5x123: WA01318 (very bright, decent survivability)
4.5x123: CL809 (quite bright, quite safe)
5x123: WA01318 (crazy bright, on the edge, baby!)
5x123: CL809 (quite bright, safe)
7xAA nimh: WA01274 (very bright, safe)
8xAA nimh: WA01274 (very bright, edgy)
9xAA nimh: WA01185 (there is none brighter, safe)
10xAA nimh: WA01185 (this is what's in the MoMag, on the edge)
