Take my Surefire 6P …..add a BOGUSA 170 Lumen Drop-In…..then add a
Light Hound Tactical Bezel/Head. Does not work. Will work if you add the
extra (bigger) spring that comes with the Bug Out drop-In but then you
are not able to screw on the L.H. bezel all the way.

What does work flawlessly:

Bug-Out Drop in with Surefire head.

Surefire Xenon or Surefire P60L with Light Hound Head.

I use the BOG drop-in with genuine Surefire bezels and they work fine...no gap. I don't know about the light hound bezel.

The spring is just a bit too large which creates contact but also a gap. You need to trim down that spring or you can get something like this to make contact. You know it works... but without the spring or something else, it's just not making contact.

Yep this is what you need to do. I had to do the same thing. Turns out the Lighthound is just a hair taller than the normal surefires. Tall enough to let the drop in shift around if it does not have the spring, yet too short to let the drop sit tightly when it has the spring installed.

I took an extra spring cut it in half or so then with a pair of needle nose pliers bent the cut end of the spring up a little so it would not dig into the flashlight body. My BOG drop-in has worked fine ever since and no gap. :)

My BOG Cree Premium drop in did not work in my 6P and 9P. My drop was not designed with a spring on the battery side. I sent Flavio an email and he sent me a spring for the base of the unit. You have to cut it down in order to make it fit. But it works fine now. It has to be adjusted just right but once it is seated it works flawlessly.

BTW the unit I have has one of the best LED tints I own.

Flavio will take care of you. Email him.

How do you use that copper spring washer? Does it sit on the rim of the battery body and you screw the bezel with drop in down onto it? Do you have a picture?

Sadly, not all aftermarket parts that are designed to work with Surefire products; can work with other aftermarket parts designed for Surefire lights.

I once had an idea to make a Pseudo-Surefire light.... all out of aftermarket parts. It's possible to make such a light for only about $200. You can even get every part from Lighthound. (Bezel, Leef body, G&P or Leef tailcap, Lighthound Cree drop-in, any 2xCR123 cells other than Surefire). The Leef body would be tricky since they are hard to come by. But it's possible....

Then I gave up on that idea when I discovered a thread about a run of Leef bodies that would only work with Surefire tailcaps. The thread was eye-opening. Didn't want to end up with a bunch of aftermarket spare parts. :(

Can you unscrew the pill from the reflector, and lengthen the overall length of the module a little? Not sure about the BOG, but the DX modules can do this.

I get the teeniest tiniest gap between the bezel and body of a Surefire G2 with a BUG 3W module it in. I had an o-ring that was just around the right size, so I use that to take up the gap.

Thanks for all of your help out there.

I put the BOGUSA Drop-In into my C2 using it's stock head and the
Surefire P60L in my 6P with the Light Hound Tactical Head.

I did try cutting the spring to shorten the gap and it worked somewhat
but not enough to where there was no gap at all between the head and
body on the 6P/L.H. Head combo.

Now that everything is tight and working perfectly again......

....I'm looking forward to the Surefire P61L to put in the 6P/Light Hound
combination. I'm really not into $40 aftermarket Drop-ins then still having
to do mods just to get them to work with an aftermarket head.

I have one llight with this same head, Fivemega 2x18650 body and Leef tailcap. Seems to be working just fine with HO-9, solarforce/dx led dropins and Fivemega bipin holder thing.

I may not have the same drop in, but I ordered the q5 from Bugout some months ago. The module on mine was adjustable by unscrewing the module itself to make it longer. I had the same issue with a 6P defender. That solved my problem instantaneously. However, they may have changed the design, but I did not have to use the spring to fix it. YMMV.
