I am trying to research for a project. Can a luxeon V be given enough resistance to withstand 12 volts? I mean, it is used in 9V lights right? than it shouldnt be too much trouble to resist it by 3V right?

if you had 1000VDC you could get a resistor to run the lux. The trick is getting the right resistor for your lux othewise you can blow it or reduce the life dramatically.

You can use 4x123 = 12V with a Buck driver like a DownBoy and make it regulated which is the better choice than a resistor.
