Can someone please explain led tints to me?

i'm fairly new to CPF. i don't know much, except that i love led flashlights. i've noticed how all of my leds seem to be different colors. pinkish, bluish, greenish, etc. what i don't understand is, what is a warm tint? what is a cool tint? what is a neutral tint? ...and so on. can someone please school me in these respects. everyone's always talking about different tints and i always feel left out. i know what kinds of tints i like, but i don't know how to identify what's what.

I too have a comparison beamshot thread, link in my sig. Tints are pretty subjective too; one mans "perfect white" is another's "completely blue" and one man's "warm-ish white" can be anothers "sickly yellow".

thanks! i usually use the search. for some reason i didn't this time. i guess i figured it was something that was just understood. really like the animated gifs.

You can change your thread title by editing post #1 in advanced mode (click on the Edit button, then in the next window click on "Go Advanced"). I've done it for you, but you can change it if you wish.

Your question really belongs in the LED forum rather than the LED Flashlights one, so I'm moving it there, although it looks as if you have already been given some good leads to follow up.

Your thread title already is bold to everyone but you.

That is, to everyone who hasn't viewed your thread at least once. Its not bold to you because you have previously "viewed" the thread.

The forum automatically bolds all thread titles which you have not seen and un-bolds(?) those for which you have.

If you log out and return simply as a guest it will be bold until you click on it for the first time. Since you cannot create or edit a thread without visiting it, it will not appear bold to you.
