Looking at this 18650 fast charger (1A):

but I might need to charge some CR123 too:

I see there's a good charger which takes both:

but it's pretty slow for 18650 (450mA max charging a 2500mah cell). And I'd rather not buy & carry around 2 chargers.

Can the 6105 fast charger do the CR123 cell if I make up a spacer? Is the 1A current capability of the 6105 too high for an 800mah cell, or will the cell not draw more current than it can safely handle? Is there any issue with voltage mismatch with this cell and this charger?

Hello Oznog,

First of all, I believe you will have a hard time finding a R-CR123 cell with an actual capacity of 800 mAh... Most come in at around 600 mAh.

It is recommended to charge Li-Ion cells at 1C or lower, so you should be charging them at a maximum of 600 mA.

And to prevent the obvious question: when you see "880mah" RCR123 cells on sale, that's what us professionals call "lies". :p

I have this charger. Just follow the picture and do some minor soldering with wires and it'll be able to charge RCR123, 18650, 17670... For the RCR123A, remember to mark the + and - on the casing so you don't put in the battery the wrong end. It charges 17670 and 18650 pretty slow, but really fast on RCR123A because (the others had mentioned) it's only about 600mAh. Also for the RCR123, you don't need a spacer, just bent the contact outward and it'll charge.
