Can't decide: Preon1 vs. Lumapower Avenger GX

I'd like to get y'all's take on these two lights for pocket (loose, not keychain) EDC. Right now I have a Fenix L1T which I really love because of the UI:

* Momentary on
* Forward clickie (hate reverse clickies)
* Brightness control (head twist) separate from on/off control so I can preselect desired brightness before turning on the light

Though he L1T has served faithfully for a year or so, recent AAA light technology has made me wish for something in the smaller 1xAAA form factor. Since I'm so picky about my UI, I've narrowed it down to just two options: the Preon1 clickie, and the Lumapower Avenger GX clickie. (Neither meet my third preference for UI but no AAA seems to do what the L1T does, so I'll just deal with it.) Both lights are about the same brightness, and they each have advantages in different areas:

  1. Has a well-regarded maker: Preon
  2. Less expensive: Avenger
  3. Mode memory: Avenger
  4. Beam pattern: Maybe Preon???
The big question:

4. The beamshots on CPF seem to indicate a smaller brighter hotspot for the Avenger. Is that correct? One thing I will use my light for is illuminating house numbers when driving in my car, so the better-throwing Avenger would win that contest. But for absolutely everything else, I prefer a floodier light so as long as the Preon can still light up house numbers, it might be the better choice. Thoughts?

If it can throw far enough, the Preon's floodier pattern might be a big win over Avenger's other advantages, but it's still a really close call. And perhaps there is a third light out there I've missed. Help? :thinking:

Have you considered the LiteFlux LF2XT? It's abilities go far beyond the others at a slightly higher price (~$65).

Thanks for the reco, but the LF2XT's UI scares me... even the CUI. It's very cool and if I was rich I'd love to own one, but for now I think I need to keep the UI dead simple.
