When I bought Tenergy AA's at 4Sevens.com, the representative told me that I should charge in a vertical position. I am looking for a way to charge my AA's in the truck--any suggestions on how to do this correctly?

I don't remember anyone saying that batteries should be charged in a certain position. There might be AA car chargers.

Just get a power inverter...that way you can use it for more than just charging batteries, or more than one type of battery. Oh, and Welcome to CPF!

I've never seen any mention of AA (or any other battery) needing to be charged in a vertical position.

Does the charger plug in directly to the wall?
If so the rep might have meant to use it that way, which would make it vertical, rather than having it on an extension cord sitting on the floor, just for safety reasons. That's just a guess though.

If you can afford one, look at a Maha BC-9000 this is one of the best chargers you can get and they make a car adapter so you can use it in you truck.

Thats the main reason I got one.:)

I have one of the Energizer 15 minute chargers that came with AC and DC adapters. You can find 'em at Wal-Mart.

I second the power inverter in your truck. If I get home at a decent time today I will take a few pics of my setup for you. I had a power inverter sitting in my garage that NEVER got used but I had some extra 0G sub wire laying around from when my ex totaled her car and I decided I was gonna run the positive back to the rear of the cab and mount the inverter on the back wall. It works great and also serves as a good place to connect other accesories.

Hello Jason,

Welcome to CPF.

There is no improper orientation when charging NiMh cells. Just take some caution to make sure you don't short things out.

I will move this thread over to the batteries and electronics section and we can carry on over there.
