Howdy folks.

DISCLAIMER:
This is in no way a recomendation to anyone; don't try this at home, kids.

In the past I was charging the Li-Ion cells at 4.25 volts and watching the current.

Now, I charge at 4.5 volts and I notice current eventually goes to zero.

I've probably shortened the life of the cellc(cycle life), but since I have an unlimited free supply of all types(NIMH,NICD,LI-ION), why not have some fun!

2 17500 light up an overdriven 5 watter just as nicely as 3 123 cells and last longer(runtime), IMO.

Ok, flame away.....

Hello 9X25,

I believe your disclaimer covers it all.

I did that with some of my cells and they died after 6 cycles. They had excellent run times during those cycles, but now they are dead.

Good luck with yours.

Tom

Well, since noone else has asked, I guess I will. How is it that you have an endless and free supply of batteries? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thinking.gif Are they surplus packs or something?

If you have any extra 17670s I'd be interested in buying some. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink2.gif

Hello,

Thanks for asking LitFuse :-)

I charge mine with a specially designed charger that
limits the voltage to 4.220 volts and limits the
max current to 1 amp (18650 graphite cells).

Take care,
Al

Mr. AL, Litfuse wasn't asking you. And you didn't even answer his question, D'OH!

Litfuse: send me a PM if you're really interested.

Mr Al,

sorry, it sounded like you had tried to answer a question that was asked of me. My apologies to you for sounding rude.
