Hi,
I have become a addicted to bright flashlights fairly quickly. I have been searching for a vg light for walking at night. I have pretty much solved this challange.

Now I am ooking at a good quality/bright single and/or 2AA light. I have been trawling the archives and doing my own comparison from the multitudes of posts.

I am after a light that has ~ 1 hr on high mode, has a usable (low for night vision) with extended runtime.

I have narrowed it down to several lights, this may be missing some good options that I may have missed - so any feedback is welcome. What I came up with was:

* LiteFlux LF1 V2 - StefanFS had a great wrap on this, and checked the review at http://www.flashlightreviews.com/reviews/liteflux_lf1.htm - with an upgraded LED this looks great from the beamshots

* Fenix L1D/L2D combo - has also great reviews but not quite as user friendly from a UI , but VERY bright, long runtime on low.

* Fenix L1T/L2T combo, not quite as bright as the above - but simple UI.

* Rexlight 2.1 - single AA only (plus 14500) but has lots of good write ups, plus can get on sale for $40.

I have some bright lights now for the light up moments, but m after something that is EDC with a very bright usable output.

Any extras that I ave missed, or mistakes I have made in choice - please let me know/provide feedback.

Thanks
Mark

I would avoid the original Liteflux LF1 in 2AA mode. Doug never tested runtime on Lo in 2AA in his otherwise excellent review at FR.com. I have, and Lo on 2AA lasts only about half as long as Lo on the 1AA mode! Clearly, the resistor in this light was optimized for running on 1AA. FYI, you can see the result of my SSC-mod on this light here (with 1AA data only).

I'd go with either of the new Rebel Fenix lines (i.e. LxT v2.0, LxD), depending on the interface you like the best. The Rex 2.1 would be nice if they ever came out with the 2AA tube (mainly for its lower Lo mode).

But at the end of the day, it's hard to beat the output-runtime efficiency of the Fenix. Certainly none of the resistored lights will match it.

Thanks for that....

I have researched as much as I could (there is soooooo much info on this forum) and the best combo I could find ( price no object) was a L2D rebel 100 with an L1T/L2T body. Not sure if it works - but you get the Fenix rebel 100 with a simple UI.

Has anyone done this/does it work, or does the regulator circuitry overide the simple user interface.

If the L1T/L2T came in a rebel 100 I think it would be my first choice.

Cheers
Mark

Unfortunately it doesn't work that way - the UI is controlled by the head circuity. So a L2D head will always act as a L2D head.

Also, the new LxT v2.0 body tubes are not compatible with old LxT body tubes - but they are compatible with the LxD bodies. So the flipside would work - you could take a L2T v2.0 head and put it on a L1D body.

But if you want the R100, you'll need to go for the L2D. But that's not too much of a hardship ;) - if you want to skip all the other modes, just don't half-press on the clicky (i.e. click for on, twist head for hi/low, just like the LxT series).

Personally, I'd go for the L2D R100 ...
