I just received the Coleman CREE CR123A Lithium Pack-Away Lantern for a review. After I finish the reviews the lantern goes back to The Gear Revival

You can purchase the Coleman CREE CR123A Lithium Pack-Away Lantern at The Gear Revival.

Use code CPF10 at checkout for 10% off your order, including anything else from the site.
Order over $100 worth of items and get free UPS Ground shipping in the US (no code needed, despite what the homepage says).
Get a free Nalgene bottle on orders over $85 (no code needed, we just throw them in orders until we run out).

There is a thread on the Coleman Lights at CPFMP

Costs $59.00 before discount.

The Coleman CREE CR123A Lithium Pack-Away Lantern is a very nice lantern.

The fit and finish I give the grade A.

I like the feature of how the lantern stows away. A very good idea if you are camping, small and compact and it doesn't take up much space. Also it keep the clear plastic lens from getting scratched.

Uses a Cree XRE.

Operates 5 hours on high and 12 hours on low.

Comes with a carabiner. There is a loop by the battery access cover that you can hang the lantern upside down with the carabiner.

Multiple settings. High, low and emergency strobe.

Nice review as always. This looks like a nice lantern to have for both camping and power outages. Thanks!

I have been playing with mine on a daily basis since I got it, seeing how big of an area it will light up. It is no Coleman propane lantern by any means, but it does very well for its size and weight.

Funny- just saw this review after posting about the other Coleman lamp.

This is the other one that caught my attention.

Mind if I ask which you prefer Ernie? This looks more "packable" as it appears to be more compact.

Thanks!

I like this lantern due it's small size when "collapsed".

My Internet provider looks like it is going to be agreeable long enough for me to post this...

RCR123s work just fine in the lantern.. It did not explode in my hands, and I did not notice a significant amount of heat build up. I was using DX 3.6V cheapo batteries. Unlike the Coleman flashlight, I did not notice a significant increase in brightness, but I also did not have a beam to shine at a white wall to effectively compare the difference.
